Awara is the recent reincarnation of Bukhara, which for over 20 years served some of the best Indian food on the planet outside of India itself. Located in the former Bukhara's same first floor location overlooking leafy Greenmarket Square, but with a refreshed dining room decor, Awara has added creative and complex Asian-style "tapas" to its old Indian triumphs. The dining room is presided over by Johan with effortless grace, and the current head chef Rakesh is carrying on the traditions of Bukara with aplomb. Rakesh's version of chicken chettinad is astonishingly as good if not better than the version of this classic dish that we had in this same space a decade ago. Kudos to the current Awara team for maintaining its impeccable standards for dining excellence.
